Aqueous Species Card (-R)

This card defines the aqueous species to be considered in the simulation. Aqueous species are chemicals that are dissolved in water, including cations such as H+ or Ca+2, anions such as Cl- or HCO3-, or neutral species such as SiO2(aq) or CO2(aq). Required input includes the species name, the aqueous molecular diffusion coefficient for all species, the activity coefficient model option, the species charge, the species diameter, and the species molecular weight. The species name must be unique and distinct from gas and solid species names (e.g., CO2(aq), CO2_aqueous, dissolved CO2, CO2a). Because only component and kinetic species are transported, transport properties, such as diffusion coefficients, are species independent.

  • Options for defining aqueous species are provided on the Card Options page.

  • Formatting instructions for specifying aqueous species are provided on the Card Syntax page.

  • Examples of Aqueous Species Cards are provided on the Card Examples page.

Tip

It is strongly recommended that the pre-processor, toECKE, distributed with STOMP, be used to create the reactive transport cards used by the ECKEChem Module. This ensures that proper syntax is adhered to and that consistency among cards is maintained.
