Boundary Conditions Card (HYDT-KE)

The Boundary Conditions Card is used to impose state conditions or fluxes across grid-cell surfaces that are not coupled to an adjacent grid cell (e.g., external boundary surfaces).  The Boundary Conditions Card is designed to allow the user to specify boundary conditions for energy, aqueous phase, nonaqueous-liquid phase, gas phase, and dissolved salt.  Depending on the nature of the boundary condition and problem, the boundary condition input structure may be quite simple to rather complex.  For STOMP-HYDT-KE the specification order is always: 1) energy, 2) aqueous, 3) nonaqueous-liquid, 4) gas, and 5) dissolved salt.

  • General concepts for applying boundary conditions are provided on the Card Description page.

  • Options for the three classes of boundary conditions (i.e., aqueous, gas, dissolved salt, solutes, and species) are provided on the Card Options (HYDT-KE) page.

  • Formatting instructions for specifying boundary conditions are provided on the Card Syntax (HYDT-KE) page.

  • Examples of boundary condition cards for STOMP-CO2 with and without solutes and geochemistry are provided on the Card Examples (HYDT-KE) page.
