Boundary Conditions Card (CO2E)

STOMP-CO2e solves coupled conservation equations for energy, water mass, CO2 mass and salt mass in variably saturated geologic media. When the ECKEChem module is implemented with the simulator, the simulator has capabilities for solving reactive transport problems involving equilibrium, kinetic, and conservation type geochemical equations.  The Boundary Conditions Card is used to impose state conditions or fluxes across grid-cell surfaces that are not coupled to an adjacent grid cell (e.g., external boundary surfaces). Depending on the nature of the boundary condition and problem, the boundary condition input structure may be quite simple to rather complex.  For STOMP-CO2E the specification order is always: 1) energy, 2) aqueous, 3) gas, 4) dissolved salt, and 5) reactive species.

  • General concepts for applying boundary conditions are provided on the Card Description page.

  • Options for the three classes of boundary conditions used in STOMP-CO2e (i.e., aqueous, gas, dissolved salt, and species) are provided on the Card Options page.

  • Formatting instructions for specifying STOMP-CO2e boundary conditions are provided on the Card Syntax page.

  • Examples of Boundary Condition Cards for STOMP-CO2e with and without geochemistry are provided on the Card Examples page.
